Bladder Cancer in Women
Bladder cancer became a really common cancer these days. Mostly, people have a notion that men are the ones mostly affected in this. The reason is for this is that statistics shows that more men are suffering from bladder cancer as compared to women. However, bladder cancer in women is very rampant too. For women, the most common symptom is the occurrence of Hematuria. Hematuria is referred to as the blood which can be found on one’s urine. Aside from Hematuria which is the most common sign, the urination frequency is also a sign that individuals need to be very observant about. This is the part wherein patients keep on feeling the need to urinate but they cannot really see any results. This can be very irritating. There is also an evident pain during the urination. It is like, urinating becomes even harder. Peeing will be very difficult and what is even worse is that it is just painful. There is no result in the actual urination itself. This will make patients visit the comfort room more often.
If the cancer is on its advanced stage already, there will be a visible growing of mass that can be noticed once the patient had undergone inspection. Usually, this mass can be found on the pelvic cavity. This may cause pain in the abdomen. This happens to few patients who were found with this. These signs are the symptoms of bladder cancer. But then, people should not assume. If for example they are feeling any of these symptoms, it will be good to contact a physician first before panicking because these symptoms can be a sign of other diseases too.
The Diagnosis
If for example the signs have been very evident, the person will have to undergo tests. There are various tests being conducted in order to diagnose this cancer. Among the tests being conducted include physical examination, cystoscopy, urine tests and pyelogram.
During the physical examination, the abdomen, rectum and pelvis will be checked. Urine tests on the other hand are being done to known as to whether the cells are malignant or cancerous. Cystoscopy is the inspection of the wall of the bladder while pyelogram is done by x-ray to check on the color pigment which can be found on the urine.
